Joy Johnson, a talented travel and landscape photographer, captures the deserts and mountains of the American Southwest with stunning skill. My goal was to design a site that put her breathtaking photography at the forefront, so I chose a clean, ultra-minimal layout with a crisp, white palette that lets her images shine. I collaborated with Joy to develop a brand vision and encouraged her to share her travel experiences alongside her photos, creating an irresistible blend of art and storytelling.

The “Before” Picture

Joy came to me with a Squarespace site that wasn’t doing her images justice. I reworked the design by selecting a new template and creating layouts that made full use of screen space, allowing her photos to take center stage. I also customized the site to add purchasing functionality directly from the image galleries, so customers could buy prints as they explored.

The Solution

The final design combines images, stories, and ecommerce in a spacious, minimalistic layout that aligns with Joy’s brand and style. It’s a site that evolves with her journeys through the Southwest, serving as a visual storybook of her adventures.
